Is this people with voices are treated?

If you or someone you know has ever been experiencing the hearing of voices that don't really exist, and you or this person did not have schitsophrinia, was it treated by taking anti-psychotic medication while in an isolated environment?. If not, how was it treated for you?

Hi and welcome to the forum! :)

Even though many conditions can result in hearing voices, psychiatrists are quick to diagnose psychosis and anti-psychotic medication. Id say that psychosis, and the symptoms which are quick to be called that, are perhaps the least understood phenomenon in psychiatry.

I see, makes sense. If you are hearing from someone else about this persons "voices", then it's only what you hear from them that you can take note of, making it really difficult to diagnose.

Thanks for your aspect, cheers.

Thanks and welcome :)

Psychiatry is all about diagnosis based on relative observation from the senses. Nothing is in place to prove a cause, or quantify extent. Its nothing more than guessing.
