No. Depression is suppression of your anger. Your parent(s) teached you to not express your anger. Even worse! Not only to express, you are not allowed to feel your anger. Your anger is boiling inside of you and you are not aware of it. So, instead to feel anger, you feel pain. That pain is depression.

Malasha, you don't need to learn anything, or even worse to control the feelings. You need only to change your subconscious mind. Or else, nothing will change and you'll be stuck forever.

SurvivalZ , if your anger is boiling inside of you try mentally to break benches or lampposts with terrible force. This helps redirect energy.

You can do both things at the same time

Please read carefully. Anger is boiling inside of any depressive person and that person is not aware of it.

BTW, I don't care for CBT therapy anymore. It's worthless for me.

You see correctly, Malasha, that a person with life problems often has feelings that are very strong and overwhelming. You must see however that the main concern is the current life problems and with the end of life problems there is the end of such very strong feelings (of anger, of depression, of anxiety, etc.). Recognize situations during which you get too strong feelings and look at your life problems that are to blame! Do something about the life problems, do not drug yourself into drug-induced disability to deprive you of all good and all normal feelings.

Yes, depression is when you are not allowed to do what you want! Not being allowed to feel your anger certainly makes everyone VERY depressed and frustrated.

And I can only add to that your anger which you are forced to suppressed has been caused by not achieving your goal(s)! For example you say you want to go out and your parents say no. If you suffer from a depression every day, that means your personal goals are not achieved every day! Depression is just the feeling which can get very strong because the life problem is very strong. Do not control your feelings, do some work to bring you closer to your goals! For some, the goal is employment, and they can write a good CV, post it on job boards, be on their phone, post some adverts (looking for job), etc.

When you start again achieving your goals, the feeling of depression IMMEDIATELY stops and you feel happiness!

Do not control your feelings it's not very good advice. Children do not control their feelings because they don't know how to do it. People will not understand you if you cease to control your feelings. I think feelings need to be controlled.
This is the just meditation technique - in depression do not focus on emotional coloring of feelings but only on it's power.
The reason for depression can be anything and feelings can be different. But such strong feelings give a very strong internal tensions.

You may not notice it because it is very strong but have the little amplitude so it's not an explosion of emotions but how would the background.
You perceive depression, anxiety as feelings but it is also internal tensions.
And this tension should be removed.

I wrote "CBT therapy is worthless for me." You repeat what you learned in CBT therapy.

CBT therapy tells you to "start achieving your goals" so "depression IMMEDIATELY stops". You can stop depression right now if you feel that anger in your subconscious mind. No need to wait to achieve your goals. Will you survive all that suffer in the meantime? I am not depressive for 2 decades. If I was waiting all that time to achieve my goals... Well, my friend, I'll be dead long time ago. My depression was terrible!

CBT therapy gives pity results. That is the fact. I advise you to consider some other alternatives which give much better results.
