Guys, I think I might have just discovered a real "cure-all"

Postby LeOkAsPEr » Mon Jan 19, 2015 7:53 pm

I know this might sound really really strange. But yesterday I went to see a psycho therapist in London because my GP elevated my mental health status from "Critical and in need of care" to "Unstable and in need of immediate and urgent care" so that basically means I got rushed across the country to see a therapist and got fast tracked past the 30 year waiting list to priority treatment. And when I went in there I felt great. I was finally getting treatment for my DiD because it has completely spiralled out of control. Massively. So I went to see this therapist ready to get helped. But I didn't. I asked him if we'd be doing talking therapy. And he said no. He handed me a bottle of anti-depressants and a prescription for more. He then explained to me I haven't got DiD. I'm depressed. That's right, all those incidents were all caused by depression. Not DiD. Depression. That dystopia in the back of my mind is all caused by depression. The "therapy" was supposed to last me the whole day. It lasted 5 minutes. I went back to my hotel and did some research. Apparently other people have had problems with this "therapist" and quite a few other "therapists" have the same policies as him. They believe that the only mental health problem is depression and the only way to cure it is by putting us on anti-depressants.

Wow. When I was going home on the train and the song "782.079 nautical miles from my Rented Property" played though my head I thought. Maybe they are right. Maybe the NHS has stumbled upon something amazing. A cure-all for all types of mental illness's. Anti-depression medication. It must work must it not? It's been prescribed by a "professional" and if I follow the advice of these "professionals" I'll be cured in no time.

So guys what do you think? Forget all this talking therapy nonsense. Anti-depressants are the future. Anti-depressants are the cure. Next they'll be telling us that they cure cancer. Got a fractured bone? Have some anti-depressants. Got the flu? Here's your anti-depressants.In a coma? Have some anti-depressants. Has your brain just been removed? By taking these anti-depressants you'll be as right as rain in no time. You see? All our problems can be cured by anti-depressants. They are the way to go. So why not head on down to the pharmacy now and grab yourself some of these miracle pills. Why they've helped change my life around. I used to be a mentally unstable psychopath with DiD but with anti-depressants I'm now a fully functional normal person back at my job. It feels great to be normal again. Thanks anti-depressants you've changed my life! Now let them change yours!

What meds have you been prescribed?

Hi! I am sorry you are having trouble. It can be like that sometimes. I have know first hand how difficult it is  All to often the solution is just handing over meds which dont always work. Sometimes more is needed to help a person.

Do you feel like talk therapy will help you? Talk therapy helps many with DID, in fact experts highly recommend it.

What would your ideal treatment look like?

Psychotropics are usually the first choice in treatment. Often when ones goes to a psych a prescription is almost a given.

If you do indeed have DID meds are not the fix. They may help some with DID but are not the ultimate treatment.

We can not diagnose, but if you think you have DID an expert diagnosis along with treatment is essential. When DID is diagnosed medication is certainly not the first choice of treatment. Many other types of therapy such as talk therapy, CBT, EMDR ect are used to help a person recover. The goal is to help a persons mind heal it self.

If you are not getting the correct treatment or are having trouble finding it I am sorry. The awful reality is that many across the world are not getting the correct treatment and pills are not always the ult iate answer for everyone.

But don't give up. Keep on fighting. Look for a real committed doc as much as possible. It looks as though you want to be helped which is great. Half the battle is won. The other half is finding help.

I hope you get the correct treatment you deserve. Keep looking and never give up :)

I don't even know. I dropped them on a drugs trolley on my way out and gave my prescription to my GP because he is furious. To the point he punched the wall.

I used to have DiD.
I still have it and I think a war between the loyalists (those who like things the way it is) and the rebels (they want to bring down the walls and take over me) is about to break out.

I know but it isn't going to change.

My ideal therapy would be talking therapy. Not like it's ever going to happen.

There are times when it isn't given? Is...is that even possible?

Yeah but the doctor said I haven't got DiD. I'm depressed apparently. Wait there are OTHER types of treatment? This can't be real, I must be hallucinating again. Which one of you guys put sulphur in my tea again?

But Pfizer says they are. And Pfizer are always right. That's what that doctor told me.

Look for a COMMITTED doctor? hahahahahaha you should be a comedian. I think I might have to go to the hospital, I haven't laughed like this since I saw 1984. hahahahahahahaha. You are joking right?

Thanks.

I beg to disagree, things do change for the better. I know I thought otherwise but change did come. :)

I hope it does happen. I think you will do really well in talk therapy.

There are times when a professional might avoid it, but its rare.

Yeah but the doctor said I haven't got DiD. I'm depressed apparently. Wait there are OTHER types of treatment? This can't be real, I must be hallucinating again. Which one of you guys put sulphur in my tea again?

There many other types of treatment used in DID, as well as many other disorders. No sulfur in your tea, a lot of options exist for all types of disorders.

But Pfizer says they are. And Pfizer are always right. That's what that doctor told me.

Your doc is wrong then, PFizer isn't always right.

One who cares. They exist. A good doctor can do miracles and knows how to give you real help. No Pfizer is always right type stuff.

:)

Sorry about the quotes, I hit the wrong button   My bad.

Under the NHS mental health system? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

Thanks, I do think I could benefit from it.

Rare? Recherché is better in my opinion.

There is? Wow, shame they're not available to me. But one of my alts did put sulphur in my tea. Again.

That's nice to know.

They do exist? Must be like finding the holy grail. Then again I would be happy with the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.

To be honest I don't know much about the NHS system, but there is private to.

Thanks, I do think I could benefit from it.

I take you have not had much luck with it? Sorry :(

That's not nice, I hope he doesn't do it again. Do you know why he did though?

That's nice to know.

It takes patient, and looking of course. I hate it to be honest, but in the end when you do find the right psych it pays off. In the mean time I wish you luck even though it may not feel like its out there :)

Trust me, Ive been through similar stuff. :(
