Life from the perspective of a (bad) psychotherapist

Never ceases to amaze me how many of the psychotherapists I've seen, who are complete scammers and don't really believe in what they do - manage to live with themselves.

I mean, one psychoanalyst guy for instance. He clearly did absolutely JACK SHEEP. He just sat there listening, then said one obvious (and ignorant) comment. That's it. He was paid by the state, so I didnt waste money. But he literally did nothing. Nothing.
It's as if he was being paid "to be there".
After reading my char, I was flabberghasted by the ammount of "jargon" that meant absolutely nothing that he used, and that how he actually LIED ABOUT WHAT I WAS DOING, MAKING STUFF UP as it went along. I kid you not. This happened specially when I confronted him three times about doing nothing but sit and wait. And for sessions being way too brief. He actually lied to cover for himself. Awful.
How does a perosn does this with so many people, guilty free? He also had this "oh, I'm an intellectual and a saint" posture about him. He seems to consider himself a writer... I've seen some of his works published and it's just..... I have no words to describe how he went about writing of other writers or art from the position of a psychoanalyst. It's all literally "playing with words", with the jargon he used. He's saying nothing. Just like it was on my chart. And he considers himself to be an intellectual and had a "helpful" instance that was very misleading.

Overall, I found this guy to be just... sleazy. It disgusts me to think of him. How he can literally scam people with a job that doesn't do anything. I doubt he believes in all that psychoanalysis stuff. No one else does in the modern world of psychology. What a weird and unpleasant escape reality...


Why so many psychotherapists are so not in touch with reality? Why do they lie, distort, manipulate, make things appear to something else? I feel like the whole basis for psychotherapy, specially the ones rooted in psychoanalysis, is control of the mind and suggestion - not effective methods and problem solving. No real understanding of the mind, either. At best, you can get a therapist who is empathetic from a point of view any other human can. But in average, it seems like a lot psychotherapists are just rehashing BOGUS jargon or saying the obvious, while prostituting his ear (which doesn't really take much effort).

I feel it's just charlatanism and outright indecent to practice some forms of psychotherapy as a living. People with real problems get scammed out of time, money and subjected to unpleasant experiences and bad therapists who only make them feel worse. There are A LOT of shady characters working on the mental health field, specially on psychology. Psychiatry requires med school, which can be a trial to avoid dumb and outright people to enter and finish it. To become a psychotherapist, in many parts of the world, it's actually pretty easy. Psychology is usually the easiest/cheapest course you can take in many, many countries.

I loathe what psychotherapy is. It's like religion, stripped to it's most disgusting and revolting forms. A lie to take away your money. And if it works, thank the psychologist. If not, say it was countertransference. lol

How do you think it feels to be such a... scammer? Someone who wakes up and goes every day to do something they don't fully believe in, or isn't effective, and yet keep shoving that product up people's minds or taking jobs at hospitals?
They can see psychiatrists working in said hospitals, they see a profession much better trained with much inteligent people, how do they still manage to do what they do? Which is so useless?

A psychotherapists can't be a teacher, because most of them aren't trained in psychopathology or anything else. Psychology doesnt offer much knowledge, that is ocncrete. So why do these people keep believing in it? And entering the field? Just money? Faith? Money + faith, like religious cults and many small churches?
