can't stand all the weight gain, mental fog, and loss of energy
decided to wean myself off of 1.5 mg of my antipsych
am on the lookout for any symptoms such as hearing voices or seeing visions
i want to be able to function
that means symptoms AND side effects under control
i feel like this is progress since i'm still on 3mg
i just made the change and didn't tell my p-doc, who had just weaned me down from 6mg
anyone else have experience tinkering with their meds outside of doctor's orders?

I guess its better than the trouble that can be caused by taking more of a drug than doctors orders.
I guess if you have bad reaction to the reduction it would be best to tell the truth so withdrawals are labelled withdrawals instead of a worsening condition.
Or you can tell truth now and possibly get labelled "non med compliant" .
In the end I guess its up to us to do whats best for us cause other peoples ideas of best for us sometimes can be more like whats best for them.
I survived psychiatry.

I feel as though I am bemoning dependant if not addicted to Risperidone. I have schizoaffective disorder and have become increasingly agoraphobic; and I e.joy the sleep and vivid dreams that Risperidone provides -- but my anxiety and other schizo symptoms are still present. Risperidone has helped to nearly eliminate my auditory and visual hallucinations but the weight gain over-sleeping are hardly worth continuing on this drug. I plan to seek out another psychiatrist for advice on this matter. I would just like to be my "normal self" again. Sigh.

I think that will be best. Going in for a second, 3rd 4th ect opinion is always in your benefit. There are others meds or even other treatment options that may be recommended.
I hope you find something that does work for you. Side effects are never fun, I get you.
Good luck
