Children and youth in the United States are leaving hospitals with a diagnosis of bipolar disorder 72.1 times more often than children and youth in the UK, according to a study led by University of Oxford researchers published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry.

Could it be the pharma front group NAMI : National Alliance Mental Illness using that drug company money to convince parents their kids 'need' to be on drugs ?
http://www.sourcewatch.org/index.php/National_Alliance_on_Mental_IllnessAnd or because people in the UK are not bombarded with "ask your doctor" drug ads for crap like like brain disabling "Abilify" all day long like in the USA ?
US children and adolescents were also generally 3.9 times more likely to be diagnosed with any form of mental illness than their counterparts in the UK, at 261.2 per 100,000 population in the US compared to 67.8 per 100,000 in the UK. “For ADHD, the rate is 13.2 times higher in the United States than in England,” wrote the researchers, while “unipolar depression in children and adolescents is 4.2-fold higher.

I am not to surprised.
Unfortunately a doctor by the name of Joseph Biederman got the ball rolling on pediatric bipolar as a common diagnosis. His studies convinced a lot of people that childhood behavior that's hard to diagnose to begin with was bi-polar.

Every kid has a diagnosis these days.
by 6 years of age US children were being diagnosed with PDB at the same rate as British 19 year olds.
Seriously, this is absolutely ridiculous.
