Mmhm, yep. You've gotten to the point you have no argument, and this debate is over. Feel free to keep posting, trying to get my attention. I won't reply. Feel free to send me a harassing private message like other users on this board have over the fact I ask them to provide evidence. I don't care. Bye bye now.

Harassing private messages , that's totally not my M.O , don't worry about it.

I might do a project later and search every drug followed by the word lawsuit.

I did most of them on this thread: Pharma CEOs never do prison for there crimes anti-psych/topic127672.html

We would all have better treatment if these pharma people would clean up their act, or goto prison.

Thank you, that's very mature of you.

If you do, I would like to see the results. I'm not debating with you to hurt your feelings, and I hope you understand that. It's just that I do buy into some of this, in a way, but haven't really found any viable proof whatsoever yet.

Abilfy:
Otsuka to Pay More than $4 Million to Resolve off-label Marketing Allegations Involving Abilify

Today's settlement resolves government allegations that, from 2002 through the end of 2005, Otsuka knowingly promoted the sale and use of Abilify for pediatric use and to treat dementia-related psychosis.

Drug Maker Forest Pleads Guilty; To Pay More Than $313 Million to Resolve Criminal Charges and False Claims Act Allegations

WASHINGTON - Forest Pharmaceuticals Inc., a subsidiary of New York City-based Forest Laboratories Inc., has agreed to plead guilty to charges relating to obstruction of justice, the distribution of Levothroid, which at the time was an unapproved new drug, and the illegal promotion of Celexa for use in treating children and adolescents.

Cymbalta:

Eli Lilly ($LLY) has battled to protect its best-selling drug, the antidepressant Cymbalta, against generic competition but has decided not to stand and fight a lawsuit tying it to the suicide of a 16-year-old boy. The company agreed to settle the litigation in advance of a trial set to begin next month.

(When the lawsuits roll in from the families of dead patients, simply use a small portion of your windfall profits to settle out of court, admitting no guilt.)

In a 70-page amended complaint filed this month, Saavedra described attempting to stop taking Cymbalta but being stymied by excruciating side effects, including severe nausea, tunnel vision and “electrical brain zaps.”

“Nowhere on the Cymbalta label does it indicate that a significant percentage of users who take Cymbalta ... experience withdrawal symptoms or that the majority of those withdrawal symptoms will be moderate or severe,” the complaint said.

Chantix:

Pfizer CEO Avoids Testifying with Another Chantix Settlement

As Pfizer Pharmaceutical tries to wind down the more than 2,500 lawsuits regarding Chantix side effects, it is choosing to settle with a majority of plaintiffs. According to recent reports, the company has already agreed to pay out $273 million to 80 percent of the claimants, or roughly 2,100 victims.

Depakote:

Global Health Care Company Abbott Laboratories Inc. has pleaded guilty and agreed to pay $1.5 billion to resolve its criminal and civil liability arising from the company’s unlawful promotion of the prescription drug Depakote for uses not approved as safe and effective by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Justice Department announced today.

In an agreed statement of facts filed in the criminal action, Abbott admits that from 1998 through 2006, the company maintained a specialized sales force trained to market Depakote in nursing homes for the control of agitation and aggression in elderly dementia patients, despite the absence of credible scientific evidence that Depakote was safe and effective for that use.

The civil settlement addresses broader allegations by the United States that from 1998 through 2008, Abbott unlawfully promoted Depakote for unapproved uses, including behavioral disturbances in dementia patients, psychiatric conditions in children and adolescents, schizophrenia, depression, anxiety, conduct disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, alcohol and drug withdrawal, attention deficit disorder and autism. .

In addition, Abbott will also pay $1.5 million to the Virginia Medicaid Fraud Control Unit.

Lets skip to Neorntin

“After more than ten years of hard-fought litigation, the parties have reached a settlement that will bring this litigation to a close,” lawyers for the benefit firms said in a memorandum filed May 30.

The companies alleged that Parke-Davis, part of Warner-Lambert Co., paid kickbacks to doctors to encourage them to prescribe the anti-seizure drug for unapproved uses such as bipolar and panic disorders.

June 3, 2014

After ten years of litigation, Pfizer has agreed to pay $325 million for marketing its anticonvulsant Neurontin for unapproved purposes. The settlement comes six weeks after Pfizer agreed to pay $190 million for illegal promotion and sales of Neurontin for unapproved uses, as well as making misrepresentations to patent courts, and other practices designed to stifle competition. In 2004, Pfizer paid $430 million for marketing the drug to treat bipolar disorder, ADHD, and other conditions, bringing the total Pfizer has paid in Neurontin-related litigation to $945 million.

GSK Settles Paxil, Wellbutrin Illegal Marketing Cases With 44 States for $105M

June 5, 2014

Chicago’s Attorney General announced yesterday that GlaxoSmithKline has agreed to pay $105 million to settle allegations of illegal marketing of Paxil, Wellbutrin and Advair (an asthma drug). The case, brought by 44 states and the District of Columbia, alleged that GSK had marketed Paxil and Wellbutrin as safe for children and teens, a use the FDA had not approved, and despite clinical trials raising concerns that Paxil was associated with an increased risk of suicide.

Wellbutrin was also marketed “off label” for weight loss, ADHD, addiction, anxiety and bipolar disorder.

Tyler77 wrote:Now there's something. That' might not be a reliable source, but it's a lot better than the last three. Not to mention, how exactly are they supposed to know that it has those effects on pregnant women? Is there a way? And no, don't say "they can test on pregnant women", because I highly doubt a pregnant woman is going to say "Sure! Test your drug on me and the child I'm carrying!"

How do they know that the drug has those effects on pregnant women? From tracking other pregnant women who have chosen to take this medication and tracking their children as they grow up. I know this from personal experience as I am going through a decision of whether or not to take psychiatric medications while trying to conceive and the hospital has informed me that if I do choose this route I can become part of a research study so they can gain more information on the effects of the drugs on the fetus.

Tyler, I can understand where you are coming from with wanting evidence, many people have come on this forum and asked for similar. There is evidence out there. I am confused however, are you looking for evidence in general, or from every single pharmaceutical company? There was a recent lawsuit settled this year which I believe was regarding Risperdal, but I'm sure Copy_cat can correct me if I am wrong on that

I think it's sick all the kids who are put on adderall. 3 out of the 5 closest friends of my 16 year old son are on adderall. I seriously believe that high doses of adderall caused me to hear voices. IMO I think it's abused.

Really, personal attacks on these companies don't do anything to prove your point.

These are actual crimes the drug companies have committed. It shows the character of these companies and gives credence to some psychiatrists who are whistle blowing who are saying that the drug companies are committing research fraud. If the major players are committing research fraud, there is absolutely no way for someone like me to be able to determine the efficacy of the drugs.

People are different. What works for one person may not work for another person. I'm glad that I ended up on Effexor 300mg. Anti depressants don't seem to help many people. I am in the minority I think.
