Mild akasthisia overlooked as side effect of antipsychotics

Read it and weep:

Basically, psychiatrists haven't been taught to recognise drug induced akasthisia (inner restlessness) when it doesn't involve restless legs. But studies show that at least half of the cases of akasthisia don't involve restless legs.

Mild akasthisia is often confused with depression and can induce suicidal thoughts.

I had mild akasthisia for a year -- for as long as I used antipsychotics at high doses. Always thought it was depression. Damn, I'm starting to realise the worst year of my life was due to using antipsychotics.

I agree. I suffered from akathisia many times and they considered it a symptom to further augment antipsychotics.

I'm sueing the last doctor who did this. They won't learn unless it's mandatory.

Fight for your rights and deserved attention you require from the medical profession, man.
