Hey all.

Seems like the National Institute of Mental Health is giving credence to some complaints in the anti-psych community. Namely the issue of validity of mental health diagnoses. They began research into using modern techniques for mental health in 2011 and they say they have an ETA for improvement of about 10 years. So with luck, the mental health profession will be transformed from what we know it today in about 6 more years or so.

Interesting, though I'm not sure exactly how one would measure the Genes, Molecules, Cells, and Circuits. Well, I do know how they would measure the genes, but just because someone's genetic makeup shows a predisposition, or a greater chance of developing a certain psychiatric disorder that doesn't mean that they actually have it. Plus, I doubt insurance companies would be willing to fund all of that expensive research at this time. It seems to me, that if they had knowledge in these areas, they would already be testing for them.
