Valerian affected by coffee

Postby Cate68 » Mon Oct 14, 2013 6:54 pm

If I drink the coffee in the mornings, I feel more alert.

BUT.......

It cuts the effects of the Valerian that I take at night.

I didn't drink coffee today.......The Valerian was less affected.

And my stomach gets all messed up.

Coffee twice a week?
Coffee in the afternoon instead of morning?

OR

NO coffee at all?

I am serious. This is not a joke. I really wonder about the coffee. I am a coffee addict...almost to the point of being considered almost like an alcoholic with alcohol.

I have a similar problem, I drink way to much coffee. I always expect it to give me energy and focus like the adderal used to do but it always just just makes me edgy , up, irritated, agitated and not eat right if I over do it. I don't keep it in the house anymore and that helps alot, but ya I was drinking it like beer, just one more cup to feel better right now, Ill eat later I promise... It got really bad , the habit formed when I lived at a hotel at the beach for a wile that had endless coffee on tap in the lobby all the time.

I say throw out the house coffee supply. It worked for me. The hassle of going out to get a cup cuts it down. I go every morning anyway but when that cups gone its gone, no easy refill.

Valproic acid ( Depakote) was first synthesized in 1882 by B.S. Burton as an analogue of valeric acid, found naturally in valerian. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valproic_acid#History

Valerian gave me an anger problem for some reason.

I walk down the shops every morning and get a coffee a real nice one. Its a good routine.

I don't keep nescafe or real coffee in the house.

Perhaps switch to 1/2 caff in the AM, and then to decaf after 12pm? That's what I do. I really enjoy the taste of coffee but too much caffeine will make me all shaky and up all hours of the night.

Good deal. If I cut my coffee use down to like, twice a week, it seems to help.
