Diagnosing Delusions

Avoidant Paruresis (AP) is the inability to urinate in public. I have had the condition since childhood and always thought the explanation was psychological. That is up until 2005 when I was forced out of work due to unusual activity on my computer and returning home to find that I could not urinate in the privacy of my own home on some occasions. I immediately felt that there was some technology causing the problem but over the course of a few weeks the problem went away. However, several months later the problem returned and I started to search the internet for information about frequencies controlling the body. I found sites about psychotronics and V2K and there was one page of particular interest detailing how microwaves could block the Action Potentials in the body. Overall, there was reasoning and experience behind my thinking, but I did not get the opportunity to explain my thinking to the psychiatrist and he did not make any effort to question me regarding how the belief originated. The belief was instantly diagnosed as a delusion.

I hate how people don't ask questions. I honestly believe that there is a bit of truth behind every "delusion."

I co-sign this and that is another one of my huge problems with behavioral health. They often leave out key factors that could be causing behaviors in order to force there opinions and judgements on people

its true, some delusions have a basis in reality. I like how Hearing voices (movement) encourages voice hearers to think about what they voices say and what they might mean? For eg. You may here a stern voice telling u 'u cant do that !" and it may be some person in your past has trauamtised you. U can think about whatever they might mean and theres thousands of possibilities, and how to talk with the voices and decide whether they r useful voices and if u want to live without them or with them. There is a large % of ppl never diagnosed as mi who hear voices.

When we talk about 'deslusions' 'voices' etc. we come closer to identifying the root problem/cause.

Psychiatrists are not trained to talk about this stuff, they are hardly ever interested in hearing about it. Some think it makes ppls condition worse. I disagree.

I also disagree, though I think talking about these things needs to be done in a way where it is not triggering to the other person. I know there have been times when I had some false beliefs and talking about them more might trigger me into becoming more agitated. I'm not saying to never talk about them, but to just make sure that the person is in a place emotionally where it would be helpful.

We could talk for hours about chemical imbalance and psychosis and delusions but the reality is that psychiatry is a Nazi doctrine and is about moral and political judgments above all else.
