Psychiatry should be classified as alternative medicine

Postby Copy_Cat » Mon Sep 23, 2013 6:26 pm

Why should psychiatry should be officially classified as alternative medicine ?

While posing as “authorities” on the mind and mental health, psychiatry has no scientific basis for any of its treatments or methods. That's why.

Alternative medicine is any practice that is put forward as having the healing effects of medicine but is not based on evidence gathered using the scientific method !!! Alternative therapies lack the requisite scientific validation !

There are no laboratory tests, brain scans, X-rays or "chemical imbalance" tests that can verify any mental disorder is a physical condition.
I survived psychiatry.

If all criteria is analyzed it does indeed turn into an alternative medicine and should be sen as such.

Aye... It should not be the first line of defense against mental "disorders". We are often times sent to these barbaric places by family members who just want a quick 'fix'. Psychiatric drugs though are not a solution they are a band-aid over the wound. If the real problem is not addressed, I would say your true self can get lost.

Alternative violence and fraud sounds better to me, or alternative scapegoating.

Alternative quackery.

Or alternative religion.

I agree with this, though when I think of "alternative medicine" I usually think of something from an Eastern culture. Psychiatry seems much more "western culture" to fall into this category.

I agree. I have to see a psychatrist. Because I need to have someone with that degree speak on my behalf if ever needed. So I chose one who is a homeopath. She does not have a prescrip. pad. She is not covered by my supplimental insurance. (co-pay is about 50%) But it is worth paying my last penny to stay away from harmful drugs. I do take something. But thats through my MD who is very cool. So I have avoided the horrors of the system. But have had a pay out of pocket to do it.
