Ga school shooting AK-47 2013 "I’m sorry – I’m off my meds,"

Michael Brandon Hill allegedly dressed in black and armed with an AK-47 assault rifle fired at least six shots at police from inside McNair Elementary School in suburban Atlanta on Tuesday.

When he was taken into custody, the gunman said: "I’m sorry – I’m off my meds," a police officer involved in the arrest told WSB-TV in a televised interview.

This website is a collection of 4,800+ news stories with the full media article available, mainly criminal in nature, that have appeared in the media (newspapers, TV, scientific journals) or that were part of FDA testimony in either 1991, 2004 or 2006, in which antidepressants are mentioned.

See http://ssristories.com/ (includes list of school shooters on meds)

The kid should have said to police "I'm sorry, the psychiatrists have been drugging me for years ! "

Below is what they will likely be saying all over the T.V in a few days.

I just really like that one.

Check this out,

The suspect in Tuesday's shooting at an elementary school outside Atlanta was arrested earlier this year for allegedly threatening on Facebook to shoot his older brother in the head "and not think twice about it," according to a police report obtained by CBS News.
A Henry County police report obtained by CBS News Wednesday shows that Hill's older brother, Timothy Hill, told police last New Year's Eve that threats Michael made a day earlier made Timothy "fear for his life."
"Mr. Hill advised his brother stated on Facebook that he would shoot him in the head and not think twice about it," a police officer wrote in the report.
Timothy Hill told police that he knew his younger brother had "mental issues" and was under a doctor's care but that he didn't know where Michael was living at the time.
More than two months later, in March, Michael Hill turned himself in on the outstanding warrant for making "terroristic threats."

That's from here http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-201_162-575 ... olice-say/

Family troubles + Law troubles + Psychiatric drugs = school shooter ?

Bullying is in this equation as well I think,

The McNair elementary office worker told LeCroy that he wanted Channel 2 Action News to "start filming as police die."

Why does he want the police to die ?

Cause he felt bullied by courts/police/probation cause his brother called police on him ?

What about "mental issues" ?

The scapegoat label for the scapegoat position in the family dynamic ?

We don't have to guess because he is alive and can someday tell his story. Sorry big pharma drug pusher child killers, this ones alive !

Psychiatric drugs, change the way you think feel and act.

"Psychiatric drugs may increase suicidal thoughts or behaviors in some children, teenagers, and young adults, especially within the first few months of treatment or when the dose is changed..."

Sais so right on the package.

I don't have much sympathy for the guy. He is basically helping the system by trying to use a mental illness as a scapegoat to get off for his actions. I have sympathy for people that have never shown through a act to be a threat to themselves or anyone else that are unlawfully and involuntarily committed. He is the opposite of that.

I dont think so. Considering his behavior in the school he has problems, yes. But why would he go in with the urge to kill and then just stop with verbal commands? If mental illness was a scape goat wouldn't he go with his scape goat after doing what he intended, not telling people before hand? Even if these never took place, they would still not solid clues as to not being mentally ill. I feel sorry for him, I really do. You fail to see that the mentally ill can become violent because they have no clue what they are doing or feel internally compelled to without restraint. The restraint/self consciousness mechanism can get either temporarily or permanently upheld. It doesn't justify what he did, but he needs mental rehabilitation in my opinion. By the way, in order for anyone to be involuntarily committed they have to be thought of as a danger to self or others, so your comment doesn't really make sense to me. Anyways,

On a side note this video speaks volumes:

I thinks this kid is a victim of the system. The system did not help him and the brother who is speaking with Morgan is saying all the right things. Whats interesting was when he says his problems started with the medication adjustments. I think that is what got the ball rolling big time in regards to his issues. Either the medications made him like this or he had issues to begin with but the doctors had no clue what they were doing. Maybe they did and the medications helped, but still some one should have known to keep a closer eye on him. The doctors screwed this all up.

I also agree with the book keeper who talked him out of this, he is in pain. He did respond to her trying to sympathize with him, so that might mean he is not a lost cause; responding well to empathy treatment. She would make a good psychiatrist in my opinion regarding her abilities she displayed. And of course what she did I dont think many could do considering the stress of it.

The saddest part of all he will probably be charged and go to jail. As happens with nearly every single mental patient who get caught by police with anything big or small. In the end when he is released he will be much worse, a prison is geared around a sane person thinking what he has done. It does nothing to help the insane other than furthering their problems. The criminal justice system in this country and some all over the world are 60 years in the past. It doesn't see mental illness, just a black and white, good and evil. It is a revenge based system detached from reality. You choose to do something evil, you need to be punished. Truth is over half of those who go through the criminal justice system are mentally ill. Mental illness is a monster epidemic. And people in large numbers are ending up in prison from it rather than getting help. Funny thing is some doctors blame the activists lashing out against the mental hospitals. Well truth is yahhh, thats part of it, how many people went into a mental hospital and got inhumane treatment while there? Massachusetts hospitals actually ended up getting sued a while ago because the abuse was so bad 40 years ago in their facilities.

You are incorrect. For a person to be involuntarily committed he or she has to do more than just be thought of as a threat to themselves or others. They have to commit acts that substantiate that claim or thought. Furthermore, that is not even a necessary criteria in my state it can be replaced by that person being simply unable to care for his or her own health. Here is the official form and the criteria that must be met in my state.http://www.djj.state.ga.us/Policies/DJJ ... hmentA.pdf

Guys like this prove that drugging and medicating does not work, but he hurts the overall cause by trying to justify his behavior with a mental illness. Behavior and mental illness do not go hand and hand. They have no business treating behavior which you can change on your own. That's my biggest problem with psychiatry it tries to call everything a mental illness then treat it with a pill.

So a person who is thought of as a threat to others can just bet let go because he has not done anything worse yet as a result? Something as simple as stating one is suicidal can land one in a hospital. Displaying odd behavior that could be pretext to psychosis. Walking around naked. All that needs to happen is one or more psychiatrists during an evaluation to come up with the recommendation far an extended stay. Thats it. I have know people who have made comments alone, went to an evaluation and just because the psychiatrists thought he/she was suicidal a involuntary stay took place. Heck, a police officer or parent can even file concern for someone, they are brought in, evluated, and if the psych thinks something is wrong they can be involuntarily committed. From the way your wording it it sounds like they first need to act out what the psychiatrists think might happen in order for hospitalization to take place. By then 98% of the time it will be to late.

I fail to see how he is justifying his behavior. All he stated was he didnt take his meds. I also fail to see how behavior and mental illness do not go hand in hand because it has been proven that illnesses influence how one acts. Correct, illnesses themselves are relative. But in technical terms it has been proven. I take you have never witnessed someone have paranoid delusions? I have many times. You cant say behavior and mental illness dont go together. And not everyone can change their behavior because their illness can prevent that. How can a person who is hallucinating change something he cant control. How can someone who does not have self awareness cognition in consciousness understand what he is doing? Im not sure about what went wrong with the shooter, but in many people Ive seen who are mentally ill they cant just control a certain behavior be it violence, rocking back and forth acting out delusions ect

I gave you a link to the law in my state you can argue all you like but having a mental illness is just one component. Walking around naked is obviously a act, saying that you are suicidal is obviously a act, but one can not simply write down a bunch of mental illnesses and have them double as acts. You can not say that the person is paranoid, hallecunating, has anxiety, and let one of them count as the mental illness and the others count as acts. You have to give examples of that persons actions and how that makes him a threat to himself or others.

"I’m sorry – I’m off my meds,"...

This Hill dude was in that crazy state brought on by psych med withdrawal reactions, a crazy state he would not have experienced if he was not drugged in the first place. At least he is alive and can tell his story some day.

I saw a video on youtube made by a kid that brought a gun to school and made threats after getting all messed by anti-depressants and was out of his mind at the time.
