This church is not part of any true Anti-Psychiatry Movement.

The true Anti-Psychiatry Movement actually cares about service user experience, and offers an alternative to psychiatry that at least has some compassion to it. It is actually motivated to change things _because it cares about service user experience_.

What you are promoting here is the false Anti-Psychiatry Movement. This lot have a horrible view of service users, and if they're saying even _counselling_ is evil than I suggest you rethink your promotion of this church.

Especially if you haven't even learned what they think.

Way to dodge the question, again.

Post a video from the "true movement", they do make informative videos, right ?

I would really like to see an example.

"Some of them would die of starvation, kill themselves or whatever, but at least they are taking personal responsibility for themselves and making choices."

It's what they say, Copy_Cat. It's their words. If you don't want to do the research, don't expect me to provide links advertising a church which advocate letting service users starve to death.

Seriously, I'm not advertising this lot.

Hi Devilock, as I'm someone with a mental illness, and as they have some really harsh views about me, I personally am not willing to advertise them by linking to their site.

I've tried discussing their video (e.g. my post asking Copy_Cat to explain the logic at 0.58, about how DSM is a "moral code"), but I didn't get an answer. It's a pretty fundamental point, given the video's title says that DSM5 is the atheist's moral code. I tried to discuss their view that psychiatry is based solely on "standards of behavior" but that didn't get answered either. I guess there's another interesting discussion to be had about whether psychiatry is atheistic or not.

True.

There videos are so outrageous there is no need, I just looked at a NAMI video that claimed people with mental illness are dieing 25+ years sooner and blamed it on a lack of mental health treatment !

Ignoring the fact that Obesity-related illnesses, like diabetes, are so prevalent among the mentally ill from the psych drugs that health officials call it an epidemic within an epidemic.

Next

The DSM is partly a code of acceptable and unacceptable behavior and thought by a self appointed group of people (the APA) that believe they get the final say on whats normal and whats not.

Giving amphetamines to 6 year olds is "normal' to these people.

But that's not what the video is saying. The video is saying that DSM only talks about behavior, and the video is saying classification is the same as making a "moral code".

So it sounds like you disagree with the central thesis of the video.

I'm in the gray area, but I love how this video pokes fun at the DSM for being an 'official' behavior rule book for the way people act in the world.

Splitting, or all-or-nothing-black and white thinking, has always been considered a borderline trait.

Splitting is a cognitive distortion and defense mechanism--a totally unconscious way BPs and NPs make sense of the world. It causes mood swings and contributes to arguments, criticism, and blame.

I find no reason to take a stand that this video is 100% perfect or 100% no good at all.
