These videos are part of the Anti-Psychiatry Movement and I want to discuss them/
Agreed, it's an open discussion, and I would say it's worth discussing which part of the broad spectrum of anti-psych opinions and organisations the videos that you post come from. (informed consent, and all that. It's good to know whose works you are promoting).
If I posted a NAMI video, I'm sure you would want to say something about NAMI, as well as the video.
This video is coming from a very bible-based church, with some very conservative opinions (e.g. wives must be submissive to husbands), and they believe humans and dinosaurs lived at the same time. They say "Modern Biopsychiatry is as anti-Christian, dangerous and satanic as evolution"
Regarding mental illness, they say "Psychiatry, psychotherapy or professional counseling won't help." If you're wondering what's wrong with psychotherapy or counselling, well: " First, their methods and foundational theories are based upon evolution, atheism, junk pop social science".
They believe the cause of all mental illness is sin.
They believe in withdrawing welfare from those with a mental illness. "Some of them would die of starvation, kill themselves or whatever, but at least they are taking personal responsibility for themselves and making choices."
Copy_Cat, are you sure you want to be promoting this church?
If you agree with all the above, and those are your own religious convictions about mental illness, then ... then I think I see some interesting debates ahead. If you don't agree with them, is it really worth promoting their vids?
Oh, and the titles of the video take 12 seconds. The first error occurs at the 13th second. The book she is holding is not DSM5, although the title of the video (and the caption) say its about DSM5.
If you want to stand by the video, and the church, and its teachings on mental illness, I'll watch the rest of it. But seriously, you want to promote this lot?
