Psychotic episodes after a childhood on ADHD medications

Postby Copy_Cat » Sat Jun 22, 2013 5:54 am

I met someone today who told me this happened to him, psychotic episodes following a childhood on ADHD meds. He started at age 8 going on Adderal then Ritalin and finally that awful stuff Vyvance. He is now 19 and told me a long story of psychiatry. I told him what I know and have been through.

I have heard this kind of story before. Is anyone tracking the long term effects of these medications on children ?

And is anyone even in charge of doing so ?

This would probably be the FDA since people can make legal filings etc due to harmful experiences. This is how the SSRI can cause suicidal thoughts in teenagers thing arose I believe.

Though we all know how corrupt the FDA is, so good luck with that :?

I know, parents are being mislead by a multi billion-dollar a year child drugging industry that a diagnoses of “mental disorder” (ADHD, Bi-Polar, Social Anxiety Disorder) are medical diseases or illnesses. This is a fraud. No child has a brain scan, blood test, X-Ray or any evidence of physical abnormality to verify they are “ill” or “diseased.”

How is a parent going to know this when a "doctor" sais there child is "sick" and needs drugs ??

The truth is these meds never were fully tested or approved on kids. Some experts warned about it, but the idea of medicating kids was pushed through and it still is in full swing on medicating them.

Have I known people's kids who developed problems from meds? You bet. I had a cousin who developed drug dependence from ADHD meds. I have known people's kids that have had violent tantrums and/or attempted suicide when given SSRIs despite no prior history. I have known people who took medication as kids, and the lot of them are struggling with drug dependence or still have major cognitive losses from the psychotropic medications.

My belief is that the biggest risk to giving kids medication is the risk of drug addiction latter on in life (both prescription and street). Simply because more often than not that is the outcome Ive witnessed (along with many others). And it makes sense, because any time a foreign chemical is introduced into the brain the brain itself adjusts around the drug, especially in children which have the most neuro plasticity by far. Take that drug out and the brain at this point is working in an alien world, without what every single nural connection has been accustomed to. Add that to the fact young kids are psychologically desensitized to putting pills into their body. And lets not forget ritalian has a similar chemical structure to cocaine.

@ Riccola

I know they are creating addiction in kids.

The first thing child psychiatry does is teach kids how to doing drugs can change feelings at an early age and also removes fear of doing drugs that anti drug campaigns try to teach them. Pills are O.k ...

Also Adhd meds make everyone high, I "have" ADD and the drugs made me calm and high. The high is calming, that's all. If you have ADD/ADHD the drugs don't get you high... Bull $#%^.

Withdrawal reactions from any psych meds make a person feel chemically "needy" and I also know that withdrawal reactions can start when the dosage of alot of these "meds" (mind altering drugs for kids) stays the same but tolerance goes up creating that needy feeling. Anyone who has had addiction problems can tell you about the "I needed more and more just to feel O.K " effect. Everyone who has ever taken them knows that the amphetamine (Adderal Vyvance) and Ritalin induced anxiety-depression crash , insomnia, and possible psychosis sucks as well so many of these kids end up on more "meds" as a result of this reaction. Many then get the forever label "bipolar" and the drugs that go with that come with withdrawal reactions (insomnia, mania, mood swings, psychosis, Psychotic episodes) that confirm the diagnosis if they ever try and stop taking those brain disabling nighmare pills.

Then when these kids find street drugs that work "better" then the "meds"... and are already chemically needy as a result of psych meds they have little chance of controlled recreational use.

The child drugging industry knows the above. They not only don't care at all, not one bit, they lie to parents claiming there child's so called disorder is "medical" and "needs" drugs they call "safe" and "effective".

I like how when these kids end up in a treatment center for addiction the psych industry has them say "I am an addict" (blame the victim) and fill there heads with lies like "addiction is a disease, you were born that way, we have zero proof and no DNA test but its genetic..."

Then the "dual diagnosis" scam tells them they "need" more of psychiatry's pills and "treatments".
