The Obama administration proposes investing $235 million dollars into a new mental health program for our schools that is meant to increase the safety of our children and prevent future Newtowns. The money will train teachers and masters level mental health professionals so that they may detect early signs of mental illness in their students.

This well-meaning program is a serious mistake for two reasons. First, it is no more than a politically correct, cosmetic solution that distracts attention from what really needs to be done. Second, it will likely wind up doing much more harm than good for the kids who are identified as being at risk for mental illness.

I really can't imagine the content of the training programs. There is nothing to teach -- no proven way of detecting early signs of mental illness in children and no proven way of preventing it. Predicting violence is like picking a needle out of a haystack. The rarity of the event makes accurate identification simply impossible."

Last I checked all the school shooters were already psych labelled and put on drugs with side effects that include suicide and violence.

Am I missing something ? What part of "every school shooter was already drugged" are they missing ?

This would make sence the other way around if undrugged kids did school shooting but all the shooters were psych drugged already !

Documents were finaly released from officials from the Adam Lanza school shooting like way back in December. This Adam Lanza’s labeled mental illness and the fact that most of the mass shootings in recent years have involved pills for some psychiatric label. The "officials" have not seen fit to release his toxicology report, which could provide insight into the Sandy Hook Shooter’s mindset.

It is kind of important I think because the horrific attack has been used to justify the Obama administration proposal to invest $235 million dollars to "detect" these so called child mental disorders and of course the child drugging that almost always goes along with that.

Told ya so.

I cant see any good coming from this. I can only imagine more children being labelled as ill needing some type of "treatment". Testing can be written any way seen fit, including wording that can make anyone appear ill.

Perhaps if that effort was used to higher more teachers and establish positive role models for children real progress could be made IMO.
