My son started inpatient yesterday

My 19 yo son finally decided he needed help and after 4 wks of waiting was admitted to inpt anorexia Rx in Pittsburgh (at a well know hospital). He has lied to me continously for 2 yrs and I thought his weight was 120 labs (he is 5ft . I was shocked to find out he was 100 lbs. The purpose of my post is several fold. To let folks know that there are guys affected by this ED as well as girls and women. And to recommend to ALL those out there with concerns and issues about eating....get professional help, the problem doesnt get better and you need a professional to helkp you deal with the underlying issues of the disease. I am a physician, although not a psychiatrist, and have been living in a dream world while my son has continued to slowly get worse the past 2 yrs. He was followed by a psychologist but because of his busy schedule at college as a freshmen, didnt get followed up (BIG MISTAKE). Anorexia is a disease that is hard to lick by yourself, you owe it to yourself and those that love you to seek help as early as possible. I hope my experience will help those folks out there afflicted with this problem. My son is projected to be in the hospital for 8 wks and it will be a long ordeal but I am optimistic that we will beat this disease!!! JOHN

I wish him the best of luck!! I am also an outpatient presently and things are going good. All you got to do is be honest!!! It takes time but we can all get through it..
