We Want To Help A Girl At The Gym

Postby messageforlife » Mon Feb 01, 2010 11:03 am

She`s an anorexic, we think, and I`m just a concerned member that needs your help. She`s around 18yrs, wasted other than her calves and breasts, presumably because calve tissue hangs-on, and she has inplants in her breasts. I believe that I understand the condition well. My approach has been to train in a personition where she can clearly see to read my message. On the back of my vest it reads `OPTIMAL NUTRITION`
ZERO FAT
BODY BIULDING
My understanding is that they may be fluid between extreme states providing that fat is not seen to be the issue?? Once she picks up a weight for the first time I`ve suggested that a trainer makes a reference to protein, but just protein, such that she needs to associate it with just fat? Her inplants suggest that she`s not at odds with enhanced body shape(but only fat)? My concern ,other than she wont respond, is that somebody will do something wrong - To bar her might invoke harder training, even possibly suicide, and I can understand that!? The majority of gyms do just throw these people out? Help, Help, Help!!!

Hi,

I appreciate your willingness to help her, but I am not confident that your proposed idea would be best. Instead, i think that you should just tell the gym instructors about it. It would be more acceptable for them to talk to the girl about this, as they would be help liable if she suffered an injury on their premises. However, if you know anyone outside of the gym who knows this girl, then maybe you should alert them to your suspicions about her anorexia too.

I think that your method would lead to a worse situation for the girl, based on my experiences.

I understand you want to help the girl. I have the same dilemma, i know a girl who almost certainly has an excercise disorder and i am desperate to help her...however i am not going to interfere. If you ask her about it you will probably make her feel MUCH worse and the attention will intensify her problem. She most likely has family/friends who will have noticed her problems and will be trying to help her. I agree with Chucky that it may be a good idea to tell the gym instructors as it would be more normal for them to approach her about a healthy weight and attitude to exercise. Tread very carefully here.
