Where you at?

Postby dichrom » Sun Dec 10, 2017 2:55 pm

This could really go in any category, so I just picked the one I thought would have the most views. Hope that's okay.

I was wondering, does anybody use an eating disorder forum besides this one? Like MPA, WE, or even tumblr? If you don't, why do you use this one? And if you do, why are you here in addition?

I'll post my responses below.

Take care!

Okay, so the lack of response sort of screams that nobody’s reading this, but I’ll go ahead and post anyways:

I like PF because of its diverse subjects and the obvious older age bracket, but ED-wise it doesn't have that big of a community. I'm more on MPA these days and check back here every now and then. The only drawback is oc that ED forums are not necessarily pro-recovery, and here you couldn't get away with a fraction of what goes on over there.

I have bulimia. I didn't know that when I first came here but some nice people here initially helped me through understanding that that's what was going on. Then I found people here supportive as I sought psychological help for all of my issues and discovered I have Dissociative Identity Disorder. I like the variety of topics on the forums here, if I start to find one thing too intense or triggering I can switch to reading a different part of the forum about a different issue. I haven't visited other eating disorder forums because I get triggered extremely easily and need to stay in places that are strictly pro-recovery for my own well-being.

Yeah it's kind of strict here in that sense. I often wonder if we don't have more regular posters here for that reason though. But on balance I think it's probably better to be a good place for healthful recovery seeing as a lot of other forums don't fully offer that...
In a way, I am not defined by my dissociation. In a way, I am.

I have Anorexia, restricting type, but I don’t post about my struggle with it for the reasons below. I don’t feel like I can discuss my issues deeply enough without violating a rule. :(

(I do reply to support others.)
