hi, i've been suffering from ano/bul for ten years, just recently got out of treatment and unfortunately relapsing yet again. today while out grocery shopping, attempting to kick start some kind of normal eating, i was harrassed by the checkout girl. she took it upon herself to lecture me about what i should be eating saying i shouldnt be eating all that diet food with the way i look etc etc. it was upsetting, embarrassing but mostly irritating. what gives people the right to comment on me? would you ever see someone say something to an obese person buy high fat/calorie foods? it really makes me angry that people feel they can comment on people just because of their 'low weight'.

Hi,
Sorry to hear what a jerk you encountered -- in the middle of something so basic as grocery shopping ...and trying your best to do something healthy for yourself at that.

I'm not ano/bul, but I sure am Avoidant. And the kind of emotional ambush you suffered is the sort of thing that makes me want to stay holed up by myself.

Glad you're here in the forums where there's more compassion than in the average retail situation!

Keep on coming back and sharing...
