Any advice or help

Postby Stuie » Sun May 29, 2011 10:05 pm

Hey I wondered if anyone can suggest ways to deal with a short temper. Perfect example, last night I was out with some friends for a birthday and one of them was a bit drunk and accidentally hit me in the mouth (i have two piercings that are three week and so a bit tender) so I strangled him till he went to the floor and then punched him a couple of times. After I had done this I went back to bein perfectly calm and having a good time. He realised what he had done so there was no friction between is after. It's usually really small and petty things that set me off and I'm worried that one day I'll go to far.

That day is here - you did go too far.

He realised what he had done so there was no friction between is after.

He realized he accidentally hit you? Maybe you should stay away from those who are intoxicated and refrain from drinking yourself.

Yeah he realized he should be more careful and I came on here cuz I'm looking for help and you just seem to be having a go at me. I don't drink often probably once in two or three months. I also don't go out often and if it hadn't have been a friends birthday, I wouldn't have done. So if you aren't actually going to post anything constructive, ###$ OFF.

I would be understandably angry if someone accidentally hit me in the mouth. Of course what he did was an accident and did not warrant being choked or punched. I hope you apologized for intentionally assaulting him as that was far worse than being a clumsy drunk…. Not that I haven’t been equally egregious with my anger of course.

My advice is to see a professional and explore meditation if you’re open to that sort of thing. Your friend was cool, but what happens if someone accidentally pisses you off and you physically assault them as well? You’re at high risk of legal trouble if you’re quick to hurt people like that.

Yeah I apologised straight away to him. That's exactly what I'm afraid doing. I got a doctors appointment tomorrow so I can see if he can refer me to a therapist. Thank you for your advice :)
