Can Overwhelm Shock and Anger lead to murder?

Postby Anhina » Sun Apr 10, 2011 4:49 am

I really need your opinions for a research.

This is my scenario:

If someone scare you with something that you are most terrify of in this entire world just for a few laugh (prank), even though clearly the person is aware that you have told them not to ever do so, but they did anyway just to entertain themselves. Would you flip out and kill that person?

Also I would like to know

Is it possible for someone to have themselves under control all the time?

Would some prank turn into a murder scene (accidentally)?

Please help me get as many answer as possible.
Thank you so much for reading this and help me out.

Anhina, I'm not sure anyone could give an honest answer. Just thinking about it makes me ill at ease. I know what makes me most terrified in the world and I know if someone did it that I would most likely pass out because that has happened before. I know that is probably not the answer you are looking for but unfortunately I have been in some situations where I have had to face my worst fears and have a bit of a built in coping mechanism in the fight or flight vein. I just conk out.

BTW, I really am not sure why you are curious about this and why you would ask people to ponder it. Maybe just a curiosity? Anyway, I hated that you had not been answered even if the question made me uncomfortable.

Oh, and you asked if it was possible for anyone to have themselves under control all of the times. Hmm, that is a tough one. I have known some people that really did seem to-- 24/7. Salt of the earth type people but you need to be around when they hit their thumb with a hammer or something like that. I think that there are some people who are just really cool cats under pressure. Kind of like nothing ruffles them. Maybe there are people like that.

Remember the amish people that instantly forgave the man and his family after he walked into their little school and shot a bunch of their kids? For a group of people who don't know of crimes such as that, it had to be absolutely unfathomable. Yet they forgave him. I have to believe that not all people are instant murderers-- just add water(or the right circumstances).

Just my opinion.

Thank you so much for replying to my question. I really appreciate your thoughts and opinions.

My question was not out of curiosity but because I over heard someone in a conversation, that person said that everyone must have control over every situation even if one person is facing their worst fear.

Somewhat I do want to prove that the person is wrong because sometimes emotions and anger can lead to something more terrible than what someone expect another person to act in certain situation.

Id say so. In extreme cases. Anger is an emotion fueled by adrenalin. We dont think clearly when angry, we can become our most primal selves. The average person is not experiencing rage like that though. It would have to be some pretty extreme circumstances. But when people are desperate, they can be dangerous. Look at what happens in Mobs. Normal people put into abnormal circumstances have been known to act in ways they never thought they would.
Kinda scary.

I would have said that this sums up the motive for all "crimes of passion"?

In an ideal world, we should all be in control, but this is not an ideal world and crimes of passion are all too common and are motivated by fears, and the sense of not being in control, the crime is a result of an autonomous impulse to try to regain control. the will, for whatever reason, is weakened and the impulse takes over. It's a survival impulse, and it will do what it needs to survive (psychologically)

If this person you are dealing with cannot acknowledge that these "crimes" happen because people lose "control", then they are seriously mistaken.

Fear of destruction; either physically, emotionally or psychologically is the sole motive for attacking others.
