How to defuse the anger agauinst our ex-abusers?

Postby langerm » Mon Aug 02, 2010 9:53 am

my mother gave me a horrid time when i was a child and she is the worst dictator i have ever seen, constantly critisizing me and giving me orders. i have not spoken to her for nearly a decade. But i just cannot forget her. I VERY DESPERATELY want to erase her from my memory, but it still haunts me. In my mind, i have constant arguments with her or even hit her. I just hate her and of course iam very angry for what she did to me.aaaarghhhhh!!!!!!!

May be people like us are angry towards our parents since on most cases their ill-treatment caused our problems or that we intuitively know that their bad genes caused our mental-illnesses. In any case, parental anger is very big in my case, especially towards that damn woman.

Iam also angry towards others who ridiculed me or ripped me off. This includes ma school buddies, former colleagues etc.
Please give me some insights on how to heal this anger.

You can channel that anger in better ways, langerm. For example, you can use ti to give yourself tenacity and determination in other aspects of your life (such as work/study/etc). You can hold onto anger if you want, but it ill only mean yuo are scuppering your chances of being happy in life. Anger never solves things on it's own in a positive way. If it does solve something, then all it serves to do is create more problems than you previously had.
