Anger and Addiction

I’d seen Crystal Methamphetamine addicts before so when I asked Sandra, “What drugs do you use?” I was not surprised with her answer. She was a little overweight to be a “Tweaker”, (a street name for someone addicted to Crystal Meth.), but her pipe scorched lips and scared forearms gave her away.

Methamphetamine users often develop what is called speed bumps. They are tiny little bumps on the body. The arms of users are often scabbed over, and bloody as they scratch themselves almost compulsively.

This was Sandra’s second anger management class. She was dismissed from her first due to excessive absences. To me it was obvious she needed a drug program far more than any anger management class, but the court in it’s wisdom ordered her to complete 52-sessions.
