Anger management

Postby MarkoJaric55 » Sun Nov 12, 2006 7:35 am

I have to start anger management classes soon. I started yelling at a nurse in the waiting room of my psychologist. I took a steel chair and threw it and shattered the glass between the the desk and the waiting room. Then I took my lighter out and tried to light one of their plants in the waiting room on fire. My psychologist came out and said that I would have to pay for the glass and the plant. He also sentenced me to 6 months of anger management. I am starting this weekend. Any advice on how to get through it? What can I expect?

Dear Mark,
What should you expect from the anger management classes? Here are some topics I believe they will cover:
Identifying your triggers
An Overview of Anger - what it is
When anger is harmful
How to manage anger with various skills: communication, empathy, etc.
Stress management
Applying the skills
Pre-assessment and Post-assessment tests

I think you will get something out of the classes. I think you will learn a lot about yourself and your life- why you overreact and how to change.
Anger is a normal emotion which can be good when it's turned into assertiveness, probelm-solving, empathy and forgiveness.

Go to the classes with an open mind and a willingness to learn. You will discover a lot and find out that other members are struggling too.

Read more about anger at the resources below. God bless!
