Mesothelioma:
"It is documented that Australia had the highest per capita use of asbestos in the world from the 1950’s until the 1970’s. As a tragic consequence, Australia now has the highest per capita incidence of mesothelioma in the world. With more than 500 Australians contracting mesothelioma per year, it is estimated that up to 18,000 Australians will die from this asbestos related cancer by the year 2020...
Mesothelioma is an unusual, but no longer seldom cancer that is difficult to diagnose, treat, and responds poorly to therapy. Mesothelioma is a cancer in which cancerous or malignant cells appear around the heart, chest or abdominal region of the body. It is believed the main cause is exposure to asbestos. Mesothelioma might be one of the rarer cancers, but it is often very deadly. I have been looking into it more and more for a friend whose father used to work in a mill. I think one of the better resources we found here. I encourage everyone to come up to speed with this disease and its causes.
