I read an article in my newspaper on the problem page where this girl said she had her first alcoholic drink at the age of sixteen, she said she remembered how it felt. how good it felt "like she had come home".
Did anyone else feel like this that they had an affinity with drink straight away, or was it a gradual thing?

Hi Greatexpectations,
I had my first drink when I was 14 and thought it was the best thing ever, so I continued my quest to drink as often as I could get my hands on the stuff

It gave me the ability to shut off any real emotion, not sure it was a natural liking to but me and it seemed to go together well (in my eyes, at the time anyhow).

You were unhappy at 14?
OK. Just read some of your old posts and see you are BPD. My ex partner was BPD.

I think I was 17 when I had my first drink and I got drunk, I rarely did it regularly until a year or two after that. I loved the drunken feeling the first time, didn't have any bad side effects afterward either until I started doing it more often.

I'd say I had an affinity with alcohol right away. I remember the night I first drank very clearly. I believe it was shortly after I had turned 19, I was with friends and decided to drink with them. I had seven shots of vodka, got drunk by the sixth drink, and it felt great. We were in a college dorm when we drank and I ended up prowling around the campus acting disorderly and harassing people, the drunk feeling suited my sensibilities very well so I knew it would be a useful substance to continue experimenting with in the future.
