im not an alcoholic in the sense that i dont need alcohol.
however i do use alcohol, in that i use it excessively, and mostly when im struggling to deal with something in life. what does this classify as!!?? binge drinking? and what steps can i take to make a better decision than drinking my problems away lol!
regards

Someone who is not an alcoholic would have no trouble not drinking--it is not an issue. They can drink or not drink. It's like I can go to a restaurant, and I eat french fries or mashed potatoes. It's no big deal.

Milkybargurl…
Good to hear from you again, Merry Christmas to you and yours.
I am an alcoholic, I don’t drink any more but I used to drink for exactly the same reasons you stated, to help me cope with stuff that I didn’t like.
Jo A'ine has a good idea, if your drinking at your problems hasn’t fixed them, then maybe you could chose to not employ that solution in the future. That was the part I had so much trouble with, the choosing to not drink when the world didn’t go my way. But if you aren’t strung out on booze like I was, than should be easy for you.
Best of luck with your journey of self-discovery
Richard
