The worst addiction...

Postby Manners73 » Sat Nov 23, 2019 7:49 pm

Alcohol was the hardest addiction for me and I don't believe I will ever truly be free from it even though its about two years since a drop passed my lips.

I remember talking to an electrician at work many years ago and he'd been on nearly every drug. I asked him what he thinks is the hardest to quit. I knew what his answer would be when he said alcohol.

I didn't think it would be an issue when I started to drink and I only started because I quit taking illegal substances.

Alcohol turned me into the worst person I could have ever been and it was so hard for me to stop.

What helped in the end was that I bought a treadmill and at the time of day I knew I would want a drink, I would get on the treadmill instead.

Of course this wasn't an instant cure for my addiction but over time a good addiction did replace a bad one.

Best wishes to all.

It is hard one like you say.

I think it's because it's often not seen as addiction, and because it also often is used to replace a different type of addiction - it replaced gambling often over the years for me.
