Good idea Wally! Not all of my dreams are nightmares, they are more like stress dreams. 9/10 there is a scenario where I accidentally drink alcohol and feel terrible about it.

Hi Wally. The nightmares seem to be calming down a bit so I'm happy about that. I'm still struggling though.

You are on my prayer list. It may be a roller-coaster ride at times, but does get better. Hang in there! :D

Thanks Wally. I need all the help I can get! I think I'm going to brave an AA meeting right now. I prefer LifeRing, but the meetings aren't as frequent and I need something NOW.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to report that I've been sober for 53 days. It's been a bumpy ride, but I'm getting through it. I've been posting in an addiction forum called SoberRecovery that is very active and it's helping a lot. I'm also going to meetings, but I don't have a sponsor yet. I'm taking it slow as I'm still not convinced about AA but I'm willing to be open minded to stay sober. I have also been going to Refuge Recovery meetings which is a Buddhist approach to recovery. I'm learning how to meditate which is very useful.

That's a fantastic update Little Wing !

I'm glad that it's slowly getting better for you . It takes a while before sobriety and recovery become our new " normal " , but once it does , it's hard to imagine going back willingly to the lifestyle we led before .

I am very happy for your progress .

Thanks NewSunRising! I feel a lot more stable emotionally now so I hope not drinking will keep me out of the psych unit. I've yet to see drastic changes in certain areas of my life, but I know it will take time.

Congratulations! Yes, you will still see difficult days at times, but it does get better. Nobody ever told me that it would get easier.
The problems I face today are real, they can still be my fault but not as a result of my intoxication. A sober mind can make clearer decisions than a drunken one anytime. Most of the time, yours will be the correct decision.
I basically have good judgement and have fears that are reasonable these days. I am able to process my past and come to terms with it without the burden of a chemically-clouded mind.
One day at a time and best of luck to you. :D

Thanks Wally. I know it will be tough journey, but worth it.

I appreciate everyone's support as I was pondering the decision. It took me a long time to come to terms with my addiction.
