1. What do you think of the “not guilty by reason of insanity” plea? How would you change it if you could?
2. Do you believe that the rights of homosexuals in the areas of housing, education, employment, and private behavior between consenting adults should differ from those of “straight” people? If so, how?
3. What is your opinion of individuals who have been released from mental hospitals as successfully treated? What are, or should be, their rights?
4. Do you think people whose behavior is significantly different from the norm, but who are not a threat to others, should be hospitalized? Why or why not?
5. How would you define “abnormal”? Who is one example of a person whose behavior you would consider to be abnormal?
6. How would you define “normal”? Who is one example of a person whose behavior you would consider to be normal?

1. What do you think of the “not guilty by reason of insanity” plea? How would you change it if you could?
I don't think they should use the term insanity. But I support that plea.

2. Do you believe that the rights of homosexuals in the areas of housing, education, employment, and private behavior between consenting adults should differ from those of “straight” people? If so, how?
No way.

3. What is your opinion of individuals who have been released from mental hospitals as successfully treated? What are, or should be, their rights?
The same as everyone else's.

4. Do you think people whose behavior is significantly different from the norm, but who are not a threat to others, should be hospitalized? Why or why not?
No, because they're not causing harm to anyone else. They're human beings just like the rest of us.

5. How would you define “abnormal”? Who is one example of a person whose behavior you would consider to be abnormal?
It's a relative term.

6. How would you define “normal”? Who is one example of a person whose behavior you would consider to be normal?
See above.

Hope this helps, good luck with your studies.

1. What do you think of the “not guilty by reason of insanity” plea? Much abused... i.e. Andrea Yates, who knew what she was doing when she murdered her five children.
How would you change it if you could?
Don't know...it has it's value under certain circumstances.
2. Do you believe that the rights of homosexuals in the areas of housing, education, employment, and private behavior between consenting adults should differ from those of “straight” people? If so, how?
Emphatically no! What difference should it make what body one inhabits?
3. What is your opinion of individuals who have been released from mental hospitals as successfully treated? What are, or should be, their rights?
Same as us "sane" folks.
4. Do you think people whose behavior is significantly different from the norm, but who are not a threat to others, should be hospitalized? Why or why not?
No. We need to foster a tolerant culture.
5. How would you define “abnormal”?
Not average.
Who is one example of a person whose behavior you would consider to be abnormal?
Albert Einstein
6. How would you define “normal”?
Average
Who is one example of a person whose behavior you would consider to be normal?
Laura Bush
Think outside the (litter) box.

1. What do you think of the “not guilty by reason of insanity” plea? How would you change it if you could?

~~~~ eh... 1. i would remove the word 'insanity'. this leaves the door too wide open such that i can confidentaly invision EVERYONE acting like corp. klinger from M*A*S*H* save for maybe as time passes, a 'klinger' character will just be labeled as someone with a transgender/sexual/crossdress sexual identity as it now becomes more and more 'accepted' amongst humanity/society. 2. that brings up the second issue. lets say a modern day tarzan occured. a guy was born and raised in the middle of a wildlife. his human parents dead moments after his birth for whatever cause. and whatever wildlife around him, apes or wolves or dolphins, 'adopts' him as their own 'child'. he gets raised amidst wildlife. he NEVER EVER encounters humanity - ever. till he's past 37 years old. a bunch of modern day expiditioners find him, pick him up, bring him back to humanity as we know it today. now, he sees human women for the first time. he goes right on out there and does whatever 'mating ritual' of the beasts he hung out with. he thinks its 'ok' and goes right on for it. later when he's hungry, he just takes someone's lunch and chows down on it. and since he's not used to clothing, rips his off, and tries to disrobe anyone around him. ............ now. would you still call him 'insane'? would you still call him 'guilty'? or does he even understand morals and ethics?? he probably understands 'territorial dispute' and claiming 'ownership' to himself or the group hes with.
the basic point i'm trying to boil down to is, i'm sick and ######6 tired of shrink schmucks thinking because one label fits one person, it can be used as a stamp for someone else. so, if this were the 1800's, a man who dressed as a woman and lusted after other males, he was stamped as 'insane'. everyone who was trans-something, was not accepted. today, if we try to call anyone the degrotory names iterated back then - its not as heavily weighted this day anymore.
all of humanity is individually unique. and although this is edu-my-cated in classrooms from pre-school thru college....the shrinks need to learn to practice what they preach. stop stamping stamps. stamp is good for one use only.
i don't care if you were born without 2 arms or 2 legs or even only half your torso formed. as time passes the 'bad' guys have been egyptians, romans, mongolians, anglo-saxons, vikings, spaniards, mayans, indians, koreans, japanese, vietnamese, russians, nazi's, palestinians, afganistanians, irani/iraqis ...............it doesn't matter what heritage you are, you're still human. you could have pink skin with yellow and purple poke-a-dots and green hair, you're still a human being. one group can like chocolate, and the other licorice - still people. you could be a devout christian and say the God in the Bible is thee God, or, you could be a full blown satanist, but it was still your own personal choice and decision, which shows conciousness, which makes and defines you as....a human being.
here's a tangential question to think and ponder about. how does humanity react when they see two stallions trying to mount each other? or two female eagles building a nest? or a heram of lions made of ALL females? and not one male in site that's been documented for over 10 years? do we as humans, since we have dominance/control over the animal kingdom, have the right to group animals to the sexual identity 'we' identify with? (i won't even begin on the issue of 'beastiality')
we are humans. we have minds, thoughts, and feelings just like everyone else. we have human civil rights just as everyone else does. we are not 'animals'. not only do we need to be treated as human beings OUTSIDE the insane asylum and treated with respect, but i MUST reiterate for the umpteeth time over, people in a 'regular/normal' hospital are treated as humans with respect, why are we neglected and downgraded and denied ANY form form of respect as soon as we are admited to a 'mental hospital'? are we as humanity, still living as if this were the biblical days? mideval days? victorian? industrial? where people were labeled as insane and demon possesed? tied in chains, left to rot alive in dungeons in their own body waste? we may not have as many dungeons today with people chained to the floor, instead, we have drugs as 'chains' and dope people up and stuff people with drugs till one litterally does need a labatomy like in one flew over the cukoos nest.
$#%^ ###$ no!! pardon my french, but, does that tell you how pissed and defensive i am??????? in the biblical days, a person who had a gran mal seizure was seen as demon possesed. today, medicine at least has knowledge documented that it is not a 'demon' entering a persons body, it is electronic brain signals gone on overboard too high an internal human voltage.
was galileo a threat? how about einstein? what about van goh? da vinci? how many other historic figures we teach our children about in school today as great and brilliant minds, sure as hell were not apart of the 'norm' way back when. should we have chained them up? or should we NOT have them exaulted in history to our kids? after all history IS picky at exactly what 'facts' it passes on and doesn't go anywhere into elaboration of how harsh or depressing life was for them way back when....
rotflmfao!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
what if i said, anybody who is not my exact twin copy in EVERYTHING, is 'abnormal' - cause as far as i'm concered, i'm completely 'normal' and everyone else around me is f'd up in more than one way?
as far as defining 'abnormal' (without cheating and using a dictionary), if a society existed where everyone wore crotchless pants and underwear, 'abnormal' would be that someone who had shame and wore whatever they could to cover their crotch. if another society existed where all humans were born with 3 heads, 'abnormal' would be that person born with only one and plastic surgery not at a developed point to add 2 fake heads yet (think of women born without breasts. now, they have the option to get fakes put in - or, be considered 'abnormal' by society). abnormal and normal are still dictated and governed by majority or minority. 'majority' is given the >assumption< of 'normal', and 'minority' the >assumption< of 'abnormal'.
6. How would you define “normal”? Who is one example of a person whose behavior you would consider to be normal?
question answered in the above answer
as far as who >I< would assign the stamp/label of 'normal' or 'abnormal' to, first off, i need to gather more information about whom i'm in question curiosity to and about. i can't label former president bill clinton as normal or abnormal just based solely on gossip that had an affair on hilary. what if hilary had a sex-change done? what if bill was raised to believe in polygamy? i might call it 'normal' that he had an affair if his wife made the marital relationship a living hell. i might call it 'abnormal' if i find out instead he lived a very very tight strict religious belief since he was born that infidelity is equated to being a mortal sin which can recieve absolutly NO forgiveness and he would be torcherd then killed, then i'd be asking wtf and why as it doesn't seem 'normal' for him to have an affair if he knows he's gona get torchered and killed?
personally, from the xp that i've obtained, i would say, pretty much ALL doctors of any practice, espcially those in neurological/psychological areas, all begin to suffer from the 'god-complex' thinking they have the power and authority of a god to dictate and govern what occurs in a persons life. saying what to do, not to do, take, not take, eat, not eat, drink, not drink - even as far as the point where they do not allow their patient to see what papers say and notes they've written in the patients files. schmucks.
