What do you tell your family??

It seems that I haven't really been able to communicate what I'm going through with my parents. It's like I have to tell them I am gay or something. There seems to be this very awkward feeling surrounding my illness that derives either from simple unease with personal matters or from the stigma that mental illness so often provokes. My parents and I have never been very close at all and it is very strange ...

PSYCHOTROPIC MEDICATION AN INCREASED RISK OF SUICIDE

http://www.ahrp.org/infomail/0902/06.php

At a meeting of the New Clinical Drug Evaluation Unit sponsored by the National Institute of Mental Health, Dr. Arif Khan raised serious concerns about the apparent link to suicide of the new psychotropic drugs: "'We have to ask if medication is the only way' to approach the prevention of suicide?"

Dr. Kahn analyzed the FDA data on suicide rates for more than 71,604 patients who were treated ...

Just an observation....

You know, after reading most of these posts I've really come to realize how incredibly intelligent most people with depression and anxiety and other illnesses are. I considerable myself to be a fairly intelligent person and I've really noticed the writing skills, vocabulary, and eloquence with which most of you write. I am very impressed. But aside from that it raises an interesting question. Are people who are more intelligent and thoughtful more likely to ...

Will someone explain to me what getting evaluated is like. What do they do exactly. I mean I know what it is, but I don't know exactly what it is.

Husband has a disorder?

I have attributed many of my husband's negative behaviors to alcoholism, but lately am starting to believe that there could be something more deeply ingrained into his mental or psychological realm.

Ever since I have known him, he has made a noise - similar to someone saying "mmm, mmm, mmm" either when he is made nervous by something or when he is trying to sit and relax. I don't think he is aware of it ...

hi new here :)

Well I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder this year. I am not sure what type I am we never discussed that. I guess as a child it was always there but not as bad as it got as a teenager and I don’t think I ever realized what it was. My symptoms do not really sound like some of the other posts here but I guess everyone is different. When I was 14 or 16 ...
