why gyno appt?

Postby GertJr » Tue Jan 08, 2019 10:07 pm

I had a complete hysterectomy 12 years ago--no cervix, ovaries, or uterus. So why does my dr insist I have a gyno appt? All the gyno does is ask about my sex life which, if it's good with me, then why does it matter? If I had issues I would speak up. Do I really need to keep up with this? I'm 61 years old and want to stop going.

Now, that is a very good question. I would imagine it may be necessary to make certain all is well.

It may be rare, but sometimes too what happens after hysterectomy - women can develop a prolapsed - I think that is the term used for a colon that becomes flattened as a woman ages - who've had a hysterectomy, causing severe consitipation. I know a woman who suffersed with this problem and had some type operation to correct the deformity. From what I hear, she is doing fine - just very elderly. She is quite a bit older than you.

At any rate - I think it would be wise for you to maintain your routine gyn visits.
I may not know my way right now, but I will know real soon..
