Housework for general mental and physical wellbeing

Postby Western » Tue Sep 08, 2020 4:54 pm

I find cleaning to be a great way to burn off excess energy and I also find it very therapeutic.

If you find the whole idea of cleaning mundane and pointless then you can always revamp an old chest of drawers with some coloured sticky back plastic.

This not only looks great but it is also gives you a sense of accomplishment and can aid in lifting your mood.

I'm the same! I love doing housework/revamping stuff to distract me!

I read Care for the Soul back in April by Thomas Moore. It stated that doing things like hand washing dishes, and knitting, things that are more humane and contemplative in nature are things that cause us to slow down and take care of the soul inside.

This may be what you are doing. For me, I don't like cleaning as much. Sometimes I just feel like a scullery maid when i have to clean. The end result is refreshing though. Atleast when i do so, i do it in depth.
