I have updated the book links so you can now click on the book and it will take you to the Chapters website and you can see the cover and read up on the book before purchase.

It is in Canadian dollars, so if you happen to be in the States or elsewhere you can look up the author and book title and go to barnes and noble, or other online bookstores.

Verbal Abuse Books

:D I recommend Tongue Fu! by Sam Horn for normal verbal conflict. In addition to the books already recommended, I suggest The Emotionally Abusive Relationship by Beverly Engel for situations of chronic abuse. I have written a workbook entitled, "A ToolKit for Healing from Verbally Abusive Relationships and other Abuse," http://www.VerbalAbuseWorkbook.com.

I have been reading up on this topic recently and have found a few books that have helped me a great deal! Please forgive me for the lack of authors, I am writing this off the top of my head. If you would like more info on these books, please let me know and I'll get back to you asap!

~"Walking on Eggshells"
~"Will I ever be good enough? Healing the Daughters of Narcissistic Mothers"
~"Getting Through the Day"
~"The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook"
~"Toxic Parents"

I suffer from PTSD caused from an emotionally and verbally abusive, not to mention neglectful, childhood and I found "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" to be extremely helpful. The workbook is more than just a workbook, it is also a book that helps you understand your past and present feelings and provides useful exercises that will help you heal some of that hurt. The book also provides a great deal of info on how you can get out of that "negative self talk" behavior and also provides exercises that can help promote increased self love and self esteem
