Rule Clarification For Substance Abuse Forum

Postby Oliveira » Wed Jul 16, 2014 1:52 pm

In the Addictions forums the following rule clarifications apply.

1. Please treat all members with respect and do not diminish or belittle other members' experiences.
2. Please do not normalise using addictive substances of any sort or promote addictive behaviours when replying to other members or posting in your own thread.

If you are not sure about anything with respect to these rules please PM a moderator to ask.

Thank you

And now some clarification for the rule clarification...

1. Everyone posting here is dealing with issues of some sort. There is no "better" or "worse" ranking. The same substance can be addictive for some but not others. So, please do not criticise other people's experience if it differs from your own. We'd like everyone to feel supported and to be able to offer support to others too. This helps build community and makes room to share both successes and problems with honesty.

2. A big danger for people with addictions is to move from one addiction to another instead of resolving the underlying issues. That's why we ask everyone to avoid normalising using addictive substances. Any addiction is a problem that needs to be worked through. Moving to another substance with medical support can be an option for some. But it is still putting off tackling the roots of the addictive behaviour. Please try to support people in exploring and working towards their own healthiest options.

3. Bear in mind some substances or medicine that are legal in the country of your origin may be illegal in another country or region.
