unusual specific phobia

Postby sognatore1228 » Sat Oct 15, 2005 7:02 pm

I have to tell you straight off, this is taking a lot out of me to even post this message. For several years I have struggled with a specific phobia that is increasingly getting worse day by day. It is really starting to affect my marriage (only been married 3 weeks as of today). I have a phobia about women, strippers(women), nudity and any sort of provacativeness that a woman might act on. This phobia pertains to real life, fiction etc. I grew up with my husband in elementary school, middle school. We were even high school sweethearts. He does not watch porn, look at playboys, not flirtacious. He is wonderful. But for whatever reason, I do not trust him in this area. You can only imagine how difficult getting through bachelor party season was. I don't know how much of this is a specific phobia versus me being extremely insecure in myself and burned from male figures in my life (dad and exboyfriends). Can anyone relate. Please, all I ask is that if you have something to say that is hurtful because you can not relate, please, just don't say it.

Does this phobia apply to yourself, and your relationship with your husband?

hey! you are not crazy! I have the same fear. my girl friend took me to a strip club on a sunday night while both our husbands were deployed to see if i could get over my fear because she thought it was ridiculous. I had a full blown anxiety attack and started crying. I had to run to the bathroom to calm down. I don't know what my problem is. I would honestly rather dance naked than look at a stripper or porn or anything and thats saying a lot because I'm pretty self- conscious myself. This is not a jealously thing for me I can't even see them while I'm alone!!
