Shooting pains in Perineum

Postby Ethan33 » Thu Oct 08, 2020 8:49 pm

Hi folks,
I sometimes experience shooting pains that seem to emanate from my perineum (behind my balls and in front of my anus) and shoot upwards inside my lower body.

This has happened on and off throughout my entire childhood and adult life. I could be sitting or standing... and all of a sudden... Fazzzzooooooooommmmmmmm.

I suddenly shout out in pain and double over. People around would look surprised and ask if I was ok.

I don't exactly know what causes this type of pain, but I can guess.

Has anyone here experienced anything like this before? – or perhaps you just think you know what might be the cause?

I am writing this now, because I currently have a continual ache in my perineum , which is somewhat new, because this is unlike the sudden shooting pains that I have experienced so many times before.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you

hello and welcome!

Well I have hip troubles and sometimes they can call an ache in the groin area.

However throughout the years I have occasionally gotten a shooting pain rather as you describe. Short lived and usually like, hits rapid-fire a few times then goes away for months or years.

Kind of makes you clench and I might grunt or something and the Snagina has asked what's wrong and I'm like well I just had a pain.

Kind of a hit-and-run thing and is very infrequent.

I do have what can only be varicoceles (bunch of varicose-like veins in the scrotum sharing room with the usual accouterments) for over three decades, and maybe that's part of it? I think sometimes they do create a dull ache for me but it's not often either. And probably competes with my hip occasionally giving me problems, for groinal area pain.

Thanks @snaga

I was wondering if, as these pains are energetic - and in my case not necessarily related to any physical injury, that energetic treatment or therapy might help.

I have experienced severe childhood trauma at the hands of a parent, which I believe effected my nervous system.

When I have spoken with regular family doctors in the past, they don't seem to have any idea about this. I don't think energetics feature much in their training. I am not angry at them, as I believe that the nervous system is still so much of an undiscovered continent for the medical industry.

I did experience some profound results from doing some cranio-sacral type work. Apparently this helped my vegus nerves, primarily the dorsal vegus branch (see Poly-vagal theory by Stephen Porges).

During the session I sighed or yawned, which was expected, and then I felt greater sensitivity in my body. After the session, my posture looked better, and throughout the day I felt this strange aching (nothing like the shooting pains) travel around my body. First my traps, then deltoids, then chest, then stomache, and then vertical strands of feeling going down to my groin.

I suppose this was the connection between head and body getting stronger / more sensitive.

Once in a very great while, I will have a sharp, sudden stab of pain in this area.
I don't know why the doctors haven't investigated your concern further. I would ask to be referred to a specialist. Try asking again. Rule out any physical/neural issues first.
Best of luck to you. :D

I had a lot of shooting pains in the groin area when I had a prostate infection. Those are very hard to diagnose too.
