Coming off clozapine

Postby YoungO » Thu Aug 02, 2018 11:53 pm

Hi I have been taking clozapine 100mg for about 3 ⚂ months now and at some point would like to stop taking it.

WBC counts are all all right, but it just makes me feel not so good and causes some confusion.

Will my doctor speak to me about gradually reducing the dose.

How do I come off this medication minimizing risks. Would it be a case of reducing the dose gradually and monitoring for side effects?

Zup youngO!

Im taking clozapine as well. 500-600mg per night! It's fkd up because u get SO tired. BUT the dr told me he will gradually lower the dose with 50mg a week so in 10-12 weeks clozapine is GONE! According to the dr it's important that they gradually lower the dose. I don't really know why but that's what he says. What's ur biggest problem with clozapine?

Gradual taper or your symptoms could come back even stronger. Are you sure you don't need medication? What is your diagnosis? You definitely still want to be monitored by a psychiatrist.
Be kind to everyone you come across because you never know who’s suffering inside.

I just came off of 300mg of Clozapine/day recently. If you do it too quickly you'll get worse withdrawal symptoms (insomnia, diarrhea, headaches, hallucinations, etc).
All I saw was the Devil's soul
And it looked a helluva lot like my own
