Loss of Motivation?

Postby MourningDove » Thu Feb 08, 2018 2:41 am

I've been living with my Schizoaffective diagnosis for two decades and it's gotten to the point where I feel I have no enjoyment or motivation to do anything anymore. I'm simply too exhausted.

My depressive states are lasting longer than before even though I'm on a new mood stabilizer I can't seem to break out of the lethargy and desire to sleep.

Do others experience this?

I'm experiencing loss of motivation now, but not the sleepiness. I'm going through and episode though. If I had a suggestion to you, talk to your doctor about it. There are a few things to consider.

How long have you been on your mood stabilizer? Your body may be becoming resistant to it, if you've been on it for a while. If you haven't been on it all that long, there may be a better drug out there for you. These are things to talk to your doctor with. Maybe the medication is sedating you. Risperadal did that to me. It turned me into a zombie. Sleeping 14 to 18 hours a day, no emotion or anything.

The sleepiness has been for several months.

I just started my mood stabilizer last week.

I see my doctor for a follow up in three weeks, so I'll inquire further.
