Doing bad things to feel alive.

Postby Manners73 » Thu Feb 13, 2020 6:48 pm

I don't think this thread belongs here but I've got nowhere else to put it.

I don't really feel any remorse for the things I've done.

I'm going through therapy at the moment in time so it's got me thinking about my life and why I do things. Obviously I need to get better so I need to understand why I do the things I do. The things that cause disruption and chaos in everyone else's lives and the things that have got me into so much trouble in my life.

I'm thinking that I do it to make myself feel alive. It's absolutely as simple as that.

How old are you? i ask this cause in my teens i was brash n indifferent. pretty much arrogant with no remorse. like i wanted dopamine rush.

i realize i was doing it just to get attention.

now i regret that behavior of mine. i was very impulsive n proud of that.

I was full of rebellion and of testing limits when I was younger. Many times it was a self-defeating behavior and I was my own worst enemy.
What changed? I had an epiphany and wanted to change who I had become. I wanted to turn the hopelessness into hopefulness.
This 'Golden Rule' that I had heard so much about while growing up suddenly had meaning. A close friend had recently passed and I decided to honor his memory by making him proud of me. I devoted myself to carry on good works. This meant facing the wreckage that I had become and finding a new identity from the scraps and pieces of the old me. I only wanted to keep the good parts.
You can change who you are.
