Pyromania?? Anyone else?

Postby JemJen88 » Fri Jan 16, 2015 6:06 pm

Hi

I couldn't find a forum for people with fire addiction in England. Does anyone else struggles with this?? I saw people talking about it on American websites but there's not a lot of help in England.

I have been obsessed with starting fires and playing with fire since I was a little kid and don't know how to deal with it. It got quite bad when I was a teenager when I nearly set my room on fire at least 3 times but I managed to stop when I was about 18 for a while. Recently, it's come back though and I'm not sure what I can do to stop it. Why does it keep coming back? I had a pretty horrible childhood but I know lots of people who have who don't struggle with it. I hate that I do it but I also feel really calm when I'm doing it...It's so hard to explain!! If anyone else is going through this please let me know Thanks!!

My first thought: Don't fight it. Don't be reckless either, but don't fight who you are. Hell, I have to learn this too as I am having a hard time accepting that part of me.

I start fires so often that I constantly smell of smoke. I love it. I have a metal tin that I can burn papers in so it won't get out of control, and some burning material fell out of it onto the carpet. I was hoping for a second that it would catch, but no such luck. It fizzled out and left just a small burn mark on the carpet. Then I realized that if it had caught I would be in a world of trouble. So, just that screams Pyromania. Well, that and the fact that I love fire so much that it is all I think about. I watch fire trucks responding videos just to hear the sirens. It sends me into complete rapture. I "get off" on the feeling of burning something, no matter what it is. I watch house fire videos and have an "orgasm" in my head. It is similar to when you have sex -- that release and pleasure and just explosion of YES! in my head. Yes, I am a Pyromaniac, and it sounds like you are too. Just don't fight it, learn to control it, and have fun with it.

(Wish I could learn to take my own advice there...)

I have started small fires like that in small metal containers it worked for a bit but it led to bigger fires. I don't get orgams from it I find it calming and helps clear my mind. its been years since I have started fires now and I still have the urge to light them.
