Anybody had or knows of Schema Therapy?

Postby Valar Morghulis » Thu Jul 23, 2015 2:54 am

I'd just like to know if anybody has had any experience with Schema Therapy? If so I'd like to ask some questions and talk to you about it.

Cheers.
It is sometimes a mistake to climb; it is always a mistake never even to make the attempt. If you do not climb you will not fall. This is true. But is it that bad to fail, that hard to fall?

Your thoughts do not define who you are, but your actions do.

Yea I had the book and it was the main practice from my psychologist that I had for about a year. I found it really helpful. If you have any questions ask away

Yes - schema therapy is a fairly common technique used to help people with longer term patterns that aren't working for them.

But like any technique in psychotherapy, its all about you and your therapist. If you feel comfortable with the approach and they feel skilled in helping you through it, then you'll get a good outcome.

But no need to worry that its a fringe technique or anything

I have found this one to be most helpful for me. If there is an unresolved childhood trauma or damaging patterns and irational thinking in present life, then this kind of therapy may help since it is oriented towards validating past experiences. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. :)
