Folic acid deficiency may occur before and after pregnancy. Women lacking folic acid during pregnancy may give birth to a baby with birth defects. Spina bifida and anencephaly are common birth defects. How much folic acid during pregnancy? Almost 600micrograms of folic acid is required during pregnancy. According to the estimates, almost three thousand infants get the Neural Tube Defects (NTDs) in US. Such babies’ brains and spinal cords are not formed properly and some of their part is missing. Also, these babies may die off or if they luckily survive then they get paralyzed from left side throughout their life.
So, not only skin changes but there are many other changes taking place during pregnancy like spotting or bleeding during pregnancy. Folic acid need must not be neglected in the diet. It helps in prevention from the neural tube defects.
