Acupuncture worsened my insomnia

Hello. This is my first time posting here. I'm 35, and I've suffered from sleep troubles for over 1 year now. I'm a midwife, and I work 24 hour shifts, although I'm not sure if that's the main cause of my problem (obviously affects my circadian rhythm, I'm aware of that) because I've been in my current job for 10 years, and never had this issue before (I could easily sleep 9 hours every night) ...

Sleeping Every Other Night

When I do the behavioral techniques I’m supposed to I usually fall asleep by 3:30AM if I blackout my house at 7PM. My psychiatrist reffered me to a sleep doctor after 4 different medications she prescribed me didn’t work, and the sleep doctor ...

How medication actually works

** just after some greater understanding** **not looking to be formally recommended or diagnosed** hope it is okay

Warning: lots of jargon!

Hi there,

Could you consider sedation/sleep and anti-anxiety to be on a common neurological spectrum?

I'm asking in regards to the effects of benzodiazpines, and am trying to rationalise the physiological reasons why diazepam is an anxiolytic, yet temazepam is a hypnotic.

If temazepam is shorter-lasting, does it somehow affect different neurological centres? ...
