Experiencing Sleep Twitches EVERY time I drift/Can't sleep

Hi there,

For the past month now every time Im on the brink of sleep I have a sleep start/twitch in some area of my body. In the beginning I was not able to fall asleep until 3 in the morning and I was disassociating from myself, walking around like a zombie. I self medicated by taking NyQuil and natural sleep aids which did nothing, I felt like I was dying. I went to different ...

staying asleep

Hopefully someone has some words of wisdom. First, I don’t think I have slept more than 6 hours since I was in my 20’s (I am 59) and I was always an early riser (around 530-6 am). I guess my first occurrence of insomnia first started about 13 years ago where I couldn’t get to sleep because my brain wouldn’t shut up. My family physician put me on a low dose of Xanax and that ...

How to get rid of noise when trying to fall asleep

When trying to fall asleep, I get easily startled by sudden noises.
I use earplugs almost every night and they do make a big difference, but while everything is quieter, I feel I become even more sensitive to footfalls and objects hitting the floor in the apartment on top of us.

It isn't that the folks are loud, they just go about their normal life but go to bed later.

It seems to me that ...

Awakenings only on weekdays

Hi everyone!

I've been struggling with awakenings in the middle of the night for more over 2 years. The strangest thing is that those episodes occur only on weekdays.

Every time I have to go to work I wake up at 3 or 4 AM and struggle to go back to sleep in less than an hour  (because I feel anxious about getting the right amount of sleep and performing poorly the next day at ...

Ringing in my ears keeping me awake

I've been hearing ringing in my ears ever since a party last week.
It has loud music but I wasn't near exposed to it for very long.
I only notice the ringing when it's quiet at night and I'm trying to get some sleep.
So far it hasn't gotten any better.
Any advice on how long I should wait to see improvement?

Tips on Healthier Sleeping Methods (Warning: Explicit)

Every night, around 8-10 o'clock, I get aggressive and angry about soon having to go to bed (or the thought of my partner getting tired). In order to get some decent sleep, I have to take about 3-5 Benadryl tablets or beg my partner to give me oral.

Backstory on oral: I'm currently two months on HRT and my libido has skyrocketed. I don't know how to get off on my own, so in exchange ...

Has anyone had this before?

Hi, I made an account just to ask this question.

When I “go to bed”, everytime I start to feel myself start to feel tired and fall asleep, I snap out of it and get a rush of adrenaline that completely makes me unsleepy because my heart is beating fast. What makes it worse is that I know what will lead me to that point and so it starts earlier and earlier because my brain ...

When should I see a doctor?

So I’ve been losing sleep each night. I only get about 5 hours of sleep before I wake up again and feel tired the rest of the day.

I’ve been trying to go to bed early, but I just like there thinking of what I’ve done that day or what I didn’t do.

How long should I wait before seeing a doctor?

i need to unlearn a fear

Hi all.

Over a week ago i detected a faint pulse in my left ear. That created some anxiety and insomnia. The pulse is very faint and i can easily mask it with white noise, which I do, but I somehow learned to zone into to pulsing sounds externally all throughout my day to day experiences that are generated by outside sources. For example, the shower, the HVAC, the refrigerator in the cafeteria. In all ...
