Possibly Narcolepsy?

Postby jenzbugrulz1978 » Fri Apr 01, 2011 6:02 am

Okay, my story is long, but I will try to keep it short.
It started when I was in high school. I was always tired, fatigued, feeling ick. People told me I was lazy, unmotivated, etc. In about my junior and senior yrs, I started having nightmares where I thought I was "frozen." I could open my eyes but couldn't move my body. I also woul dhear changing and weird noises in the background....these dreams were soooooo scary! I thought something evil was coming to get me, so i would pray, pray pray in my sleep! Finally I would wake up and feel shaken from the whole thing. These continued over about a 2-yr period...then they eventually went away.I have also had weird "paranormal" eperiences and "psychic" type stuff happen. Most of it was also during my HS years. I have only had a handful since.
Over the last 10 years ( I am now 33) I have been mainly exhausted. The doctors draw blood but never find answers. It doesn't matter how much/little sleep I get I am tired all the time! There have been a few time I have dozed off at the wheel only to be awoke by the rumble strip. I try caffeine for driving, gum, getting out and doing jumpingjacks, which work only for a short amount of time. The last 2 times I tried driving to get my mom which is a 1.5 hour drive, I get sooooo darn tired. I even missed my turnoff twice! I was so tired and ditzy it took a few mins to realize I hadn't turned...DUH! I do have blood sugar issues , mainly lows, so I really try to use sugar/protein, but that is not helping anymore, and my blood sugars haven't been that bad lately (borderline). Sometimes when I am all nervous or excited I will get "the dropsies." or talk like I have been drinking because I am so excited...this hadppened at my nephew's bday party at my sister's house. My jaw is problematic..tmj, neck and shoulder stiffness too.
Now, I have 3 children (2 under the age of 4) and don't sleep like I should at night, work evenings, and SAHM during the day. WTH is goin on? Any ideas? My mom suggested narcolespy after watching a tv show on it....

Hi, jen! You should definitely talk to your doctor about this and ask to please be sent to a specialist. No one here is a professional, but based on what I've heard about this condition, you should look into it.

Go see a sleep disorder specialist. I have narcolepsy and I can say it sounds similar to what I experience but only a licensed professional can know for sure. If you are narcoleptic there are medications available to keep you awake. I take Nuvigil and it's changed my life for the better.
To them, you're just a freak, like me! Their morals, their code, it's a bad joke. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. When the chips are down, these... these civilized people, they'll eat each other. See, I'm not a monster. I'm just ahead of the curve. -- The Joker
