Compliments

Postby Philonoe » Sat Sep 29, 2018 8:35 am

I'm curious about how you feel about compliments.

Do you like them or do you dislike them?

I'm curious too about how you feel about being offered help.

I tend to like both of them, unless i'm unsure of their sincerity. But i met some people who dislike them.

I'm curious of your experience and possible ambivalence?

Im not good with compliments. Something in me is blocking me from enjoying them, so on the outside I probably have the typical schizoid attitude towards them.
Being offered help is a bit general but I got no problem with it.

Depends who is giving the compliment, I don’t like getting help I don’t care for the feeling that I am in someone’s debt or that I owe them something.

I'm flattered by compliments. However I don't know if they are genuine compliments or just compliments for the sake of compliments.

I find I have a habit of asking my fiancé for compliments. I will cook a simple meal and ask "How is it Steve?" He will say it is good.

A new outfit "What do you think Steve?" and I see him trying to find the words.

To be honest I ask daily for compliments. I know my fiance doesn't care for it much but I just want to feel validation that I'm good. I don't know if that is a result from having a Narc parent.

I also find I give compliments to people too. No matter if they deserve it or not. I can't help myself.
