When someone with NPD uses the silent treatment, what is the person who is receiving best way to get the person to stop and to go back to how it was before?

I do not think it will ever be "normal". If you mean idealization phase, it may happen if you wait. Narcissist do what they do and there is very little you can do about it. If you really want to keep him/her in your life, you can just wait till he comes back. Or, if you have had enough and want to leave, you go no contact forever. This will put narcissist on his knees, because he is not in control anymore.

You cant force someone to talk with you. If you try to "get" someone to act in a certain way that is manipulative and controlling and isnt going to get you anywhere near a trusting, respectful relationship.

Anyways - thread offtopic, mods notified.

@whatdouthink,

Please use the "Questions About Relationships From Nons" thread for such questions if you're dealing with a pwNPD in your life. The link is below.
